About Henri Jacobs

Henri Jacobs (b. 1957, Netherlands) is a Brussels-based artist known for his work in sculpture, painting, and drawing. A graduate of the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, Jacobs has been producing what he calls Journal Drawings - a stream of drawings created approximately every five days that shift in focus from micro to macro, organic to geometric, with motifs which emerge and resurface over time - since 2003. By precisely dating and documenting the Journal Drawings' intermediary stages, Jacobs illustrates the passage of time as a continuously repeating palimpsest.
