An abstraction of the graffiti-covered, vinyl-sided buildings in the artist’s Brooklyn neighborhood, Exterior View is based on a series of four works composed of disassembled vinyl slats that are individually painted and reassembled for a randomized, collage-like effect. Rendering the material qualities of spray paint and vinyl siding, Edwards implies a fa ade that is not entirely urban nor suburban, unique nor modular.
